MICHELIN ULTRAFLEX TECHNOLOGY ensuring low tyre pressure
MICHELIN Ultraflex technologies allow to operate at low pressure while supporting more load, more speed* and by preserving the soil.
MICHELIN tyres designed with Ultraflex technologies offer better traction, which in turn improves productivity in the field with annual productivity gains up to 4%(1).
Michelin has you covered during every stage of the crop cycle with our complete and durable line up of agricultural tyres featuring MICHELIN UltraFlex technologies for Improved Flexion (IF) and Very High Flexion (VF).

What is MICHELIN Ultraflex technology?
MICHELIN Ultraflex technology allows you to carry heavy loads at low pressure however fast you may need to work.
What is the secret? Innovative, particularly tough casing, which enables more flexion.
The flexible construction of the casing allows for a larger footprint, increasing tyre's traction.
With MICHELIN UltraFlex technologies, improving crop yield starts with your tyres.

Why use low pressure tyres: Discover benefits from MICHELIN Ultraflex technologies
Reducing the pressure increases the tyre’s contact patch. This improves your productivity thanks to better motricity from working at low pressure, while allowing you to carry heavier loads.

MICHELIN Ultraflex technologies: FAQs
Low pressure tractor tyres are tyres with reinforced high flexion sidewalls and special rubber blends that make the casing very hard-wearing at low pressure. They are certified IF (Improved Flexion) or VF (Very High Flexion) and allow to reduce pressure from 20% to 40% vs standard tyres while supporting same loads(3).
Michelin designed the first low pressure tyre (VF) thanks to MICHELIN Ultraflex technology in 2004 with MICHELIN XEOBIB.
- Tractors : MICHELIN EVOBIB, MICHELIN AXIOBIB 2, MICHELIN XEOBIB, MICHELIN YIELDBIB, MICHELIN AXIOBIB
- Harvester and floaters : MICHELIN CEREXBIB 2, MICHELIN FLOATXBIB, MICHELIN CEREXBIB
- Sprayers : MICHELIN SPRAYBIB CFO, MICHELIN SPRAYBIB, MICHELIN AGRIBIB ROW CROP IF
- Trailers and implements : MICHELIN TRAILXBIB, MICHELIN VF XP27, MICHELIN CARGOXBIB HIGH FLOTATION
A study carried out by Harper Adams University(1) demonstrates that MICHELIN ULTRAFLEX technology increases agronomic yields by 4% on average thanks to lower soil compaction, better traction while improved fuel economy. These results are confirmed by similar studies carried out in the United States (Illinois) and Brazil (Mato Grosso).
For example: a farm that produces 8 tonnes of wheat per hectare and sells each tonne of wheat for £200 would earn an extra £64 per year per hectare. (based on 4% of additional yield)
Michelin designed low-pressure tyres to prevent your farming machinery from compacting the soil too much.
For example, for a 6,020 kg load, the MICHELIN AXIOBIB 2 tyre would be at 1 bar (15PSI) of pressure while the standard / non VF (Very High Flexion) tyre would be at 1.6 bar (23PSI), at 49 miles /h (65km/h) and with a 710/75R42 size.(3)
The higher the pressure, the more the soil is compacted, and we know that soil compaction modifies its structure and chemical composition by removing the macro-pores that foster air and water flow. By altering the mineralization of roots, significant compaction reduces the soil’s yield.
